This website contains history of the Dalla Vecchia family, who emigrated from Italy in 1891. After a long journey by ship, they settled in South Johnstone and Innisfail in Far North Queensland.

At the end of the 1800s, the Dalla Vecchia family was involved in the textile industry in Schio. It is located in the province of Vicenza. The working conditions were not ideal, which resulted in industrial action. This lead to many families emigrating. Parts of the Dalla Vecchia family relocated to Australia and Brazil. This website follows the branch that travelled to Australia.

The Dalla Vecchia Name

The family name Dalla Vecchia originates in Italy. Interestingly, “Del” or “Dalla” before a surname was regarded as a title. The Dalla Vecchia family was part of the elite. However, they revolted against the King of Italy and his monarchy. The revolt backfired and they were exiled to Tretto. The family comprised of artists and surveyors.
